We excel at coordinating preservation strategies that integrate seamlessly with modern systems and uses. Whether your project involves the rehabilitation of a landmark, adaptive reuse of a historic building, or navigating preservation funding sources, we deliver solutions that honor history while supporting vibrant futures.

Restoration and Preservation

We believe restoration is more than repair—it’s an act of stewardship that connects communities to their history while ensuring treasured places remain vibrant for generations to come. We take pride in tackling the unique challenges of historic buildings, combining deep technical knowledge with creative problem-solving to restore architectural integrity and enhance long-term use. Typical restoration project deliverables include:

  • Comprehensive building assessments to determine use of space, condition of existing space, and feasibility for any desired new uses.

  • Code and zoning analysis for local jurisdiction and building site.

  • Creative space planning and schematic design

  • Design for Historic Tax Credit Compliance, if applicable. (See HTC information here)

  • Design and documentation to historic standards outlined in Secretary of Interior Standards

  • Coordination with consultants for structural, MEP, and specialty systems integration

  • Construction documents and permit-ready drawings

  • Permitting support and coordination with local agencies

  • Bid review and verification of scope for budget compliance

  • On-site construction administration

Every restoration project is a chance to honor the past while building stronger futures—and we’re honored to help communities do just that.

Historic Structure Reports

We provide comprehensive reports that document a building’s history, current condition, and path forward for preservation. Our assessments can include mechanical, electrical, structural, plumbing, and accessibility analyses, along with prioritized repair recommendations to ensure the building’s longevity. These reports serve as a valuable tool for owners to plan maintenance, guide restoration efforts, and support long-term preservation strategies.

HABS (Historic American Buildings Survey) Documentation

We coordinate with state and federal historic agencies to prepare required documentation of existing buildings, often including measured drawings and archival photography. This thorough record supports compliance with preservation requirements, aids in securing approvals, and ensures the building’s historical significance is accurately captured for future generations.
